Who We Are

XRD Analytical and Consulting cc is owned and run by Dr Sabine Verryn who has been responsible for the X-Ray Powder Diffraction Laboratory of the University of Pretoria for 23 years and after which she started this company in 2009. She is the author or co-author of 26 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals and has  presented or co-presented  35 papers at international conferences.

Sabine is a member of the Mineralogical Association of South Africa (MINSA), of which she has been on the elected executive committee since 2001 and was elected Vice Chairperson in 2005 and 2008 becoming the Chair in each consecutive year. Sabine is also a member of the Geological Society of South Africa and was elected a fellow in 2009 and is a member of the GSSA council since 2011. In 2006, she was elected as the South African Representative on the International Mineralogical Association’s Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification (CNMNC). She is also an elected council member of the Coal Ash Association of South Africa. Sabine is and has been on various organizing committees of national and international conferences and was elected as chair of the 21^st Business Meeting of IMA to be held in South Africa in 2014, which resulted in her being the 2^nd Vice President of the International Mineralogical Association.

She obtained a C3 NRF rating at the beginning of 2009 and is registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientists.
